Splitting New Orleans couples may learn from celebrity divorces

As we wrote about earlier this year, supermodel Heidi Klum and singer Seal were married for seven years. They have four kids -- three of their own and one that was born to Klum before they were married and which was formally adopted by Seal. Together, the couple may have significant assets. But their split seven months ago has not yet been finalized and many are watching as the process becomes a complex divorce littered with stressful allegations and emotional turmoil.

What seemed to be a mostly civil split has recently taken a turn. According to reports, Seal is now claiming that Klum had become intimate with a bodyguard and that that was what sparked their split. Photos of Klum running with the man and enjoying the beach went public recently and speculations were reinforced when Seal stated that he would rather have seen Klum behave differently for the sake of their children.

familiar face be apparent in their lives, instead of the bodyguard that Klum reportedly cheated with. Seal may be alluding to himself when referring to a "familiar face," despite him having time with the children since the breakup.

In addition to Seal's comments about Klum's actions, the couple has been at odds specifically in regards to the divorce process. According to reports, Klum said that the couple had no joint assets but Seal has alleged that they do and those joint assets need to be divided. Klum has also requested that the couple's four children be under her custody primarily. Seal does not agree and wants to have an equal share of time with them.

Messy divorces such as this deserve some review by couples in Louisiana that are considering divorce. Much can be learned from high-profile splits as the participants often behave in ways that are counter-productive to the long-term health of the familial relationship.
